Blog Article 7: Natalie Nicholson de Lozano and Studio Del Creador

¡Dios se está moviendo con poder en Tecate, Mexico! God is moving in Tecate, Mexico! Studio Del Creador is a Christian arts center in the town of Tecate, Mexico founded and run by Natalie Nicholson de Lozano. The studio provides free art and music opportunities to Mexican children who cannot afford such classes in school as they are often quite expensive. Studio Del Creador offers FREE classes involving drawing, painting, sewing, and music.

Nicholson de Lozano expresses that “because we are created in His image we have a little bit of creativity in us.” Like the first chapter of Genesis, Nicholson de Lozano expressed further how this concept trickles down into the foundation of this art ministry. Many people whom I have spoken with about their projects with Nicholson de Lozano explain that the children have such a hunger and desire to learn about art and learn about the Lord who cared enough about them to send people who would love them through these art projects.

Nicholson de Lozano comes across as soft spoken, gentle, and possessing a devout following of faith in Christ but also possesses the leadership anointing of God like such great Biblical characters as Deborah in Judges 4 or Esther in the Book of Esther.

God’s supernatural hand has been mighty in moving with the impact of this ministry. During a ministry conference, Nicholson de Lozano shared how God had healed a man in a wheel chair who had been coming to their studio for a couple months. She reiterated that as the man had been healed, an earthquake occurred that made the international news because of the devastation it had caused in Mexico City. I remembered this story of the March 20th, 2012 earthquake as I had read the article about it on MSNBC and watched the coverage during my lunch break on CNN.  Coincidence? I think not. Other stories of the Bible are also associated with earthquakes when the Holy Spirit moves in power such as Jesus Christ’s completion of the crucifixion in Matthew 27:51-54, Christ’s resurrection in Matthew 28:2, baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts 4, and Paul and Silas being supernaturally released from prison in Acts 16:26.

Nicholson de Lozano also told a story of how she was able to minister to a woman late at night through the leading of the Holy Spirit. She had been driving home late from the studio and in the dark where the notorious drug cartels were regularly active in kidnappings and murders of citizens. She met a woman just randomly wandering the road, was able to give her a ride, and share the Gospel with her. Nicholson de Lozano has many other countless stories of supplies being needed for operating the facility and people just giving them to her without her asking. Simple obedience to the impressions of the Holy Spirit led her into circumstance after circumstance in which needs were met. God is our supplier and Nicholson de Lozano has testified about this truth!!!

Keep Nicholson de Lozano in your prayers as she ministers by the power of God in this region. You can contact her through one the links below if you would like to donate to studio, host an art event, or partner with the studio.

Blog Article 6: Advocate – The Way Review

“The Way, the Truth, and the Life”: these words of Jesus Christ in John 14:6, describe His omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient characteristics. As Christ has called Christians to be His disciples and die daily to ourselves, a titanic Christian rapper by the name of Advocate also echoes the familiarity of this call through his 2010 CD entitled The Way. Advocate also known as Andre Benjamin is one of the many voices united in their purpose to call life into the desolated landscape that encompasses this generation. His lyrics are hard hitting and heavy handed as he heralds poetic odes of accent, alliteration, and metaphor built upon a foundation of theological schematics. Benjamin is a master swordsman of the Word who wields his righteous weapon through humility and conscience challenges to society.

Benjamin attended North Seattle Community College from 1996-1999 and Seattle Pacific University from 1999-2002 and currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology with a Minor in Business. His poetic rapping skills are enhanced by his use of Christian theology to teach truths to his listeners. The Way has seventeen tracks that barrage the listener with hard truths of the Bible while also building up and exonerating the listener. Benjamin possesses a brilliantly divine gift of producing songs across the rap spectrum for all ages while also utilizing the gifts of other local Christian musicians such as Ebony, Marcus, Chay Sutton, Sharpskills, Servant, Mullen, Wendell Morris, and Willie Will. My personal favorites on his album are “Fool”, “Heatwave”, and “Real Life MC’s”.

“Fool” is a declaration of his public demonstration of his faith as a fool for Christ, a term used by the Apostle Paul in 1st Corinthians 4:10. The bombardment of bass and intentionality of his lyrics call the Christian to represent Christ throughout their own personal spheres of influence.

“Heatwave” is a narrative challenge to battle rappers about preaching the truths of God. The heat produced from this song creates ripples within the mainstream music. Benjamin declares repeatedly the heated message Christ has called him to herald by “bringin’ heat waves to the streets”.

“Real Life MC’s” flows like a letter to the editor, that being the modern rap community, in which he reprimands the falseness, sexual immorality, violence, and regurgitated rhymes from wannabe ganstas who have never known anything about the struggles they falsely preach. Benjamin challenges the rap community to return to Biblical truths, positively encourage and support the youth of this nation, and return to originality in music. His message is refreshing and reinforces the opinions of many people I have spoken with about the abandonment of originality in mainstream music.

Benjamin works with the nonprofit organization called the College Success Foundation as a College Advisor HERO with Garfield High School and Washington Middle School. Benjamin currently attends Sonrise Chapel in Everett, WA and you can support him through purchasing his CD on iTunes, scheduling him for concerts, and through prayer. May the fire of Elijah follow Benjamin in the trail he treks in his pursuit of God!

Blog Article 5: Executive Producer – John Grow of Ambient Picture Productions

While the Christian Renaissance of music is occurring across the United States of America, an equally powerful metamorphosis of Christian film is also sending shockwaves to shake Hollywood. John Grow of Ambient Picture Productions represents one of many independent film companies arising to revolutionize the industry for Christianity.

I was first introduced to Grow through a friendship with his two sons, Michael and Alex, in high school. Being new to my Christian faith, the Grows served as an archetype of what a healthy family following Christ looked like with their interactions with one another and loving their fellow neighbors. The Grows have a historical legacy of trusting the Lord and reaping the fruits of their labors which John discusses briefly in his blog entry “Hawaiian Business”.

Grow serves as founder and executive producer of Ambient Picture Productions and also has a WordPress blog entitled Producing Success which discusses his own personal reflections on Christianity within his life experiences. My personal favorites were “Hawaiian Business”, “Dungeon and Dragons in the Church”, and “What California Teaches Me about God and Christianity”.

I stumbled onto the genius of Grow’s executive producer skills by watching a movie trailer on his LinkedIn page about the upcoming movie entitled Ragamuffin based upon the life of Christian musician Rich Mullins. As I watched the trailer, I was moved by the story of Mullins and totally awe struck at the talent put into this trailer given that Grow has stated that this was not the final cut for the trailer on his LinkedIn profile page. The trailer portrayed Mullins’s life as a maverick Christian artist who struggled with the commercialization of the Christian music industry as well as his own personal struggles in following Christ. After I watched the trailer, I felt as though I had witnessed some extravagant budget production that equally compared to such popular Christian movies as A Second Chance (2006), Fireproof (2008), Courageous (2011), and The Bible Miniseries (2013) on the History Channel. The film shots and editing demonstrated impeccable precision and professionalism.

Grow has a history of a successful entrepreneurship with the creation and selling of companies Object Innovation, Inc. and BridgeGate International. Grow currently manages a film company called Ambient Picture Productions that is working on three film projects. You can support Grow by seeing Ragamuffin in theatres when it is released, following his blog, and supporting him in prayer as he seeks to influence the media culture through film for the Gospel message.
